The recipes were drawn from ICA guilds in every county in the Republic. This is, in short, a modern old-fashioned cookbook. It aims to provide a go-to for the next generation of Irish home cooks by gathering in one publication the experience of real women cooking for real families. This book echoes the values of the ICA organisation – the central place of food in family life, the ever-important role of the family meal in a modern context, the re-embracing of community values, and rediscovered appreciation of simple pleasures.
