Dick Warner, Ireland’s revered naturalist, writer and broadcaster, travels the Royal Canal celebrating its re-opening after more than half a century of dereliction. He journeys in Rambler, an original 70ft Royal Canal Tug Barge, built in 1878. The last time Rambler travelled the Royal Canal was 1923. On this epic journey, Dick meets both experts and ordinary people who live along the canal banks, learning from them about its heritage, history and wildlife.
“Waterways – The Royal Canal” is directed by leading Irish filmmaker Stephen Rooke and is vividly shot in High Definition bringing the stunning canal vistas to life on screen. Spectacular underwater and aerial photography explores the abundance of wildlife and rich countryside that spread from the canal banks, promising the viewer a spectacular experience.
